I love facilitating retreats. I also enjoy building my own capacity to effectively facilitate retreats. I’m about halfway through reading a comprehensive book on facilitating retreats: Retreats That Work: Everything You Need to Know About Planning and Leading Great Offsites, by Merianne Liteman, Sheila Campbell and Jeff Liteman (yes, it’s possible to write a 500+ page book on retreats!).

Flintridge Center Millennium Leadership Program
Not only does the Flintridge Center in Pasadena offer other workshops like the Board Development training I’m leading on April 17th, they also recently launched an innovative leadership development program. “The goal of Flintridge Center’s Millennium Leadership program is to support young leaders in developing the skills to successfully lead community-based organizations and social impact projects or to serve the public.”
Ready for Strategic Planning?
Strategic planning answers the question where do we want to go and how do we want to get there for your organization. Note I emphasized the “we” because this is a decision-making process that the entire leadership of an organization needs to make together. This process can vary in length and intensity.
My 2011 Annual Report
In 2011, I’m pleased to report:
- I served 32 organizations as a consultant, the most organizations I have ever served in a year! (11 returning clients and 21 new clients – see the full list at the end of this post).
- I facilitated 35 retreats or meetings
- I led 25 trainings attended by over 800 people
