Not only does the Flintridge Center in Pasadena offer other workshops like the Board Development training I’m leading on April 17th, they also recently launched an innovative leadership development program. “The goal of Flintridge Center’s Millennium Leadership program is to support young leaders in developing the skills to successfully lead community-based organizations and social impact projects or to serve the public.”

Ready for Strategic Planning?
Strategic planning answers the question where do we want to go and how do we want to get there for your organization. Note I emphasized the “we” because this is a decision-making process that the entire leadership of an organization needs to make together. This process can vary in length and intensity.
My 2011 Annual Report
In 2011, I’m pleased to report:
- I served 32 organizations as a consultant, the most organizations I have ever served in a year! (11 returning clients and 21 new clients – see the full list at the end of this post).
- I facilitated 35 retreats or meetings
- I led 25 trainings attended by over 800 people
Liberty Hill’s Leadership Institute
For the second year in a row, I served as the lead trainer and coach for the Liberty Hill Foundation’s Wally Marks Leadership Institute Board Development Track. I led a two-day Board Development training focusing on how to engage a Board of Directors in the fundraising process.
Effective Organizations —-> Sustainability
I remember first hearing the term sustainability while a student at the University of Oregon in 1994. I directed my urban planning studies towards the implementation of sustainable practices and have actively worked to make the vision of a sustainable Los Angeles reality every since I returned here in 1997.
Making Questions Work
I just finished reading “Making Questions Work: A Guide to What and How to Ask for Facilitators, Consultants, Managers, Coaches and Educators” by Dorothy Strachan. This quote about sums it up: “the right questions for the right people at the right time are at the heart of a healthy group process-a top priority in effective and dynamic facilitation.”
