SEED Seattle: SouthEast Effective Development

One of the key components of the Leadership Tomorrow Program that I’m currently participating in is the Leadership Lab Team experience. I’m excited to be part of a group that has prioritized working on a project in collaboration with SEED Seattle, which works to improve the quality of life in Southeast Seattle by creating partnerships and inspiring investments in housing, arts and economic development – with a special focus on residents with fewer opportunities and resources.

We’re working on a Placekeeping project where we’ll help synthesize community input, research examples of potential projects, engage with the community throughout the process and generate a list of projects that could secure public funding moving forward. Learn more about SEEDArts.

Check out some examples of Placekeeping from this recently published book, Co-Creative Peacekeeping in Los Angeles: Artists and Communities Working Together. I’ve had the pleasure of working with several of these groups over the years, including:

Public Matters, who’s Advisory Board I’ve sat on for many years

-Sara Daleiden, who I partner with on Pacific Pattern

–LA Poverty Department (LAPD) and the Center for Research in Engineering, Media and Performance (REMAP), both of whom I consulted for many years back.
